Medina County Veterans Service Office
Our Mission
The Medina County Veterans Service Office is dedicated to ensuring that every veteran receives the respect, advocacy, and resources they have earned through their service to our nation. As a state mandated agency, we provide timely, compassionate, and professional assistance to veterans, their dependents, and surviving spouses.
Our team offers expert guidance in preparing and submitting claims for county, state, and federal veterans’ benefits, and we stand beside each veteran throughout the process. During times of hardship, we provide temporary financial support to help stabilize and strengthen the families we serve.
In addition to benefits assistance, we proudly offer a wide range of holistic, expressive, and recreational programs designed to support the well‑being of veterans and their spouses throughout the year.
Our mission is simple and unwavering: to honor service with service, ensuring that every veteran in Medina County receives the care, support, and advocacy they deserve.
Our History
The Veterans Service Assistance program began more than a century ago, in 1886, with the purpose of supporting Union Soldiers and their families in times of need. Today, each of Ohio’s 88 counties maintains a board of five appointed Veterans Service Commissioners who oversee and administer the program within their respective communities.
Our purpose has never been to sustain or subsidize an unsatisfactory lifestyle. Instead, we are committed to providing temporary, immediate assistance to veterans and families who are making a conscientious effort to find a permanent solution to their financial challenges.
